Origin

After his astronaut parents were given a special mission - to destroy a space monster with a radium gun - they absorbed biogenic radiations which caused their baby to be born a mutant. The sudden evolution gave him a bigger brain, a large head, and the power of mind over matter. As a teen-ager, Gnill developed his power of levitation into the creation of force-fields, and prevented many dangers, such as floods. One grim day, however, even his power was unable to halt a wandering planet that collided with his world. His parents managed to shoot him away in a rocket (Superboy No. 125/3).

Super-Power

Kid Psycho creates an invisible shieldKid Psycho's psycho-force can be used for mind over matter applications. He has been able to levitate objects since he was a baby.

As a teenager he discovered how to create invisible force-fields (or psycho-shields) that are invulnerable to any force.

He can also use his psycho-kinetic power to drill a path through the time barrier and time-travel under his own power.

Limitations and Weaknesses: Each time Kid Psycho uses his power, he drains his life energy proportionately to the amount of force beamed forth. For levitating small objects, the amount is minimal, but when applying his power to make impenetrable force-shields and time-traveling, his life span is shortened by approximately one year each time (Superboy No. 125/3).

Membership Record

Application: After his rocket ship landed on Earth, in the 30th century, Gnill decided to join the Legion of Super-Heroes and continue using his power for good deeds. He challenged several Legionnaires to fly at him with a battering ram, which he repelled with his invulnerable psycho-shield. Thinking his membership was guaranteed, the lad was stunned when he heard he was rejected (Superboy No. 125/3).

Kid Psycho applies for membership in the Legion of Super-Heroes

Induction: In 2965, a year after his initial rejection, Gnill decided to re-apply for Legion membership. His first step was to visit Superboy in the 20th century, asking the Boy of Steel to back him up. However, after the two arrived at the clubhouse, the Legionnaires were forced to reveal to them the results of Kid Psycho's routine applicant medical exam from last year: "Psycho-force beaming forth drains large amount of energy from brain... Each time subject uses his power, he shortens his life by about one year." Superboy now understood why the Legionnaires had rejected the youth. Shocked at the grim revelation, Kid Psycho pulled himself together and, despite the prognosis, volunteered to be of service to the Legion if they ever needed him. Impressed and moved by Gnill's heroism and bravery, Superboy suggested that they make him a member of the Legion Reserve. Kid Psycho was entered as "Secret Weapon No. 1", which made him very happy and proud (Superboy No. 125/3).
