In
2963, Dr. Mar Londo used the army of super-strong,
intelligent androids he created to enter the cavernous
world of Zoon in order to extract the rare element
zuunium located deep within the core of the planet. To
lead the mission he appointed his most intelligent
creation, Karth Arn, as leader. Agilely avoiding many
perilous obstacles, the nine androids encountered dangers
such as giant cave-monsters - immense ravenous
centipedes, hundreds of feet in length. In the end, after
all the lava pits, chasms, and cave-ins, only one
android, Karth Arn, returned to the surface with the
glowing pink element. Dr. Londo used the zuunium ray
device he created to give his son, Brin Londo, partial
super-powers. As there was only enough of the precious
element to use on his son, Dr. Londo died soon after from
the strain of overwork, but happy that he succeeded in
his dream.
Karth Arn was
jealous of Brin, believing he should be the master of the
Londo household since it had been he that secured the
zuunium. Using a stun-gun on the non-invulnerable Brin,
Karth inflicted the lad with amnesia. Changing clothes
with the unconscious boy, Karth convinced him that he was
the android, Karth, and vice-versa.
Soon afterward,
Brin - believing himself to be Karth Arn - ran away so he
could go someplace where he could pass for human, leaving
the android to carry on his imposture as Brin Londo. The
android feared Brin's return and so began to build
powerful weapons to prepare for that day.
Meanwhile, Brin
wandered through many worlds, always an outsider for fear
of having his lack of humanity discovered. A year passed,
and arriving on Earth in his small space-speedster, he
attended the opening of the Interplanetary Circus, where
a Morvennian fear-beast caused a stampede of Jovian
camelephants. In order to save the audience, Brin leaped
into action and swung down to the center ring on the
acrobat's rope. Lifting a heavy spotlight in mid-swing,
Brin dazzled and scared the stampeding animals back from
the crowd.
Also at the circus
were Legionnaires Light Lass and Brainiac 5. Light Lass
was impressed by the handsome youth and invited him to
apply for the Legion of Super-Heroes. "Karth
Arn" refused, saying he was a "Lone Wolf"
and wanted no part of any organization.
After a series of
super-human robberies on Zoon, the Legionnaires found out
that Lone Wolf had headed off to that planet in a hurry,
and so Brin was suspected of being thief. Meanwhile on
Zoon, the Legionnaires discovered that the thief left no
fingerprints at the scene of his crimes though his hands
were bare. When a second team arrived, their cruiser was
hit by a strange blue ray, which began to pull them into
another dimension. Seeing their peril, Lone Wolf rammed
his ship into theirs, knocking it out of the ray's path.
In the aftermath of the crash, Light Lass awakened Lone
Wolf with a kiss. After revealing to her that he wasn't
human, he ran away at super-speed.
Deducing that Lone
Wolf must be an android thief, the Legionnaires uncovered
information regarding Dr. Mar Londo's android
experimentation from years ago and questioned "Brin
Londo" - actually Karth Arn - regarding Lone Wolf.
When the real Brin Londo approached the building, Ultra
Boy jumped him. After Brainiac 5 found the stolen space
crystals and inter-dimensional ray in Londo's lab he was
convinced who the real thief was. Karth Arn was captured
and and the real Brin Londo was cured of his amnesia (Adventure
Comics No. 327).
With Light Lass's
support, Brin made a quick recovery and entered the
Legion Academy a few years later as Timber Wolf (Adventure
Comics No. 371).

Appearance: Adventure

His body charged by zuunium
rays, Timber Wolf possesses partial super-powers.
He is super-strong and can make dramatic leaps.
He also possesses super-agility, able to perform
amazing acrobatic feats (Adventure
Comics No. 330 "The
Legion Outpost"). He can also run at
super-speed (327).Limitations
and Weaknesses: There is a reason for
describing Brin as having "partial
super-powers". Timber Wolf is nowhere near
as strong or fast as Ultra Boy; his body, while
tougher, is not invulnerable to harm; he cannot
fly without a flight-ring; and while his senses
are keener than average, he does not possess
super-senses or x-ray vision, like Superboy.
Speculative
Explanation of Powers: The zuunium rays
mutated Brin's physical structure, increasing the
strength, density, and resiliency of all his
muscles, bones, and connective tissues. The
mitochondia of his body's cells are capable of
producing a greater amount of chemical energy for
him to utilize his more powerful body. In
addition, the increased amount of neurons allow
him to move at greater speeds and have quicker
reflexes than a normal person.

Physical
Description: Brin
has thick brown hair, brushed to the right. He has keen
eyes, pronounced cheekbones, a square jaw, and a strong
chin.
Personality: Brin is fairly reticent
and shy around people at first, no doubt due to the fact
that he thought he was a non-human android for over a
year. He has a way of being distant, even when he's among
his friends, who can never get very chummy with him. Only
Light Lass can reach him, sometimes (Action
Comics No. 378/2).
Skills:
Brin
is a fearsome fighter, especially when wounded, and an
accomplished super-acrobat (Action
Comics No. 378/2). He can use his
super-strength and acrobatic skills to do foot juggling
(387/2). Brin is also a skilled space-pilot (Adventure
Comics No. 327).
Interests: Timber Wolf likes imported
cars (Adventure Comics
No. 377).
Nicknames:
"T.W."
(Action Comics
No. 382/2), "Tim" (382/2, 387/2)
Relationships:
Brin
has been in love with Light Lass since the first day they
met (Adventure Comics
No. 327). His love for her is his strongest motivating
force (Action Comics
No. 378/2). Brin considers Chemical King to be his
closest Legionnaire friend, mainly because they went
through Academy training together (Adventure
Comics No. 372).

Invitation
to Apply: While
on a mission at the Interplanetary Circus, Brainiac 4 and
Light Lass observed Lone Wolf swinging down on an
acrobat's rope, grabing a big spotlight, and using it to
stop a stampede of camelephants. Light Lass suggested he
try out for Legion membership as his strength and
super-acrobatic abilities would surely get him accepted.
However, Lone Wolf rejected the offer because he thought
he was an android and would therefore be joining under
false pretenses.
After Lone Wolf
helped the Super-Heroes stop Karth Arn and his memory was
restored, Brin decided we would take Light Lass up on her
offer after all (Adventure Comics
No. 327).
Application: Back on Earth a short time
later, it was deemed by the Legion that Brin needed time
to adjust, socially, before entering the team. Brin
agreed and, later, entered the newly created Legion
Academy in 2967 so that he might hone his skills. He
called himself Timber Wolf because he never wanted to be
a "lone wolf" again.
Induction: At the academy, Brin met
fellow student Chemical King. Since the two had performed
outstandingly in all areas of study, they were brought to
the attention of the Legionnaires, who were planning an
undercover mission to break up Tarik the Mute's school
for super-villains and needed a couple of
"unknowns". By posing as flunked-out trainees,
they were approached by Tarik's recruiters and able to
infiltrate the school. After succeeding in their
appointed mission, Timber Wolf and Chemical King were
awarded diplomas with honors and full membership on the
spot (Adventure Comics
No. 372).

Held:
Legion Academy Trainee and Honors Graduate
Aliases
Used: Formerly
known as Lone Wolf (Adventure Comics

Career Highlights:
Adventure Comics
No. 371/372 (Sept. 1968) "School for
Super-Villains"
Along
with fellow trainee, Chemical King - and Legionnaires
Superboy and Chameleon Boy - Timber Wolf posed as a
Legion Academy flunk-out in order to help infiltrate
Tarik the Mute's school for super-villains. When the
"dropouts" fought against the police,
Superboy was impressed with the show Timber Wolf put
on with his super-strength and acrobatic skill.
Although he was originally overpowerd by a group of
students at the villain's school, when the heroes
were able to strike back against the villains, Timber
Wolf was the first to reach a radio and call the
Legion for reinforcements. After the school was
broken up, Timber Wolf and Chemical King were given
diplomas and full membership in the Legion of
Super-Heroes.

No. 378 (July 1969) "The Forbidden Fruit"
|
When Timber Wolf
witnessed an armored car robbery, he hurled a
chunk of loose pavement at the crooks posing as a
laser road-crew, smashing their vehicle, then
flew after the ones surrounding the car. He used
his super-ability to avoid most of the blasts
from their rip-rays, but was eventually hit in
his right arm; however, he still managed to knock
out the gang and save the money. Little did he
know that the robbery was all a set up, and the
"doctor" in the crowd of onlookers who
treated his wound was in charge of the plot. The
"medicine" was really the distilled
juice of the addictive Lotus Fruit, and the
"doctor" tried to use the now-addicted
Timber Wolf to get the other Legionnaires to try
the fruit and succumb to its effects also so he
could control them. He was able to resist giving
Light Lass one of them, but wasn't able to shake
his own addiction until Light Lass wired herself
up to a bomb and a basket of the fruit, telling
him if he so much as touched one of them she
would die in the resulting blast. His love for
her gave him the strength to defeat it, and he
turned on the man who had given him the fruit and
slugged him. |

World"

Answering Karate Kid's
emergency signal, Timber Wolf was one of the
Legionnaires who went on an undercover mission to
the home base of Cosvarr's robot Protectors. He
snuck in by hiding inside a small compartment
inside the engine tube of the spaceship of
"Carina Walter" (really Light Lass)
which was protected from sensors by all the heat
shielding. Using a chameleoid costume to disguise
himself as one of the employees at the plant, he
took pictures of the assembly line for the
Protectors with an analyzer camera but was
spotted by Zorla, second-in-command of the
operation. He pressed the panic button on his
communicator, alerting Karate Kid to the trouble,
but was then able to bluff his way past Zorla.
When Karate Kid arrived to rescue him, he no
longer needed it, and had to fight the team
leader in order to keep his identity a secret,
although he deliberately swung wild in order to
miss hitting him. |
